Strikeforce Recap

-Ranallo, Johnson, and Shamrock all dressed in shiny suits and looking like Batman villains.

-The announcers were on fire, as usual.
----"That's where Werdum was trying to put his game into the game." - Shamrock
----Shamrock also butchered Sokoudjou's name multiple times. At one point, I think he was calling him "Sudoku".
----"CBS stands for 'Can't Beat Sokoudjou'" - Ranallo

-I wish they'd go with a two man booth of Gus Johnson and Pat Miletich. You play off Johnson's lack of MMA knowledge against Miletich's ability to explain things in concise terms that even new fans understand.

-Jimmy Lennon Jr. also deserves some grief for his overblown introductions. He called Jake Shields, "MMA's world renowned cagemaster". Do we even need introductions for the undercard? It's on TV. We have graphics telling us their records. I'd be a lot happier to never have to see the introductions again. They're a waste of time.

-How does WAMMA have enough money to advertise on the mat?

-Mousasi's trip on Sokoudjou was superb, yet they somehow did not show a replay.

-Hopefully this is the last time we have to see Sokoudjou portrayed as a top fighter.

-Jake Shields should never be allowed on CBS again. I found the fight somewhat entertaining, but this is an event geared towards casual fans. It was a terrible lead-in for the main event and hurt the overall ratings.

-Miller's entrance was embarrassing. If it was funny, I guess I could see the point of airing it.

-Big John McCarthy got a huge ovation. He's more popular than most fighters.

Why do you call it Bear Naked News? Because MMA, UFC, Tapout, and Affliction is so ridiculously gay and ground and pound is so boring it lulls me softly to sleep? I thought so.

So I got to see this show live in chicago, right? It almost didn't happen due to the fact that goolgle maps had an alternative listing for the Sears Centre. My mistake. So I arrive a half hour late for the main card, and having to park a mile distance. I should mention that the gas tank is near-empty and I have $7 in change that might cover tolls and the fuel cost to get back to the crib. Nothing would stop me from at least seeing Fedor vs. Rogers. I miss the Werdum vs. Silva fight, sit down as they introduce Mousasi.

Should mention that: Chicago has NO LOVE for Jake Sheilds, Love for Mayhem, and gave a standing ovation for Fedor's enterence. Chicago also cheers for ground game transitions and such. Really impressed with the class and awarness the crowd had for MMA, not too many blood-craving-drunken-rednecks rednecks did I see.

Cut to Fedor vs. Rogers- You could barely hear Jimmy Lennon announce Fedor's name; I have never been to another concert or sporting event that was this loud and this energized.

When the bell rang the place went into hush mode, almost like a Japanese crowd. They crowd lept off there seats anytime the action flared. Because I was watching the fighters not the big screen, didn't know Fedor's nose was smashed until after the 1st round. The crowd really started to rally at the start of the second and it exploded when the KO punch landed and the imploded when the fight was called.

You could barley hear Fedor's post fight interview when he thanked everyone for supporting him. Then Rogers got the love he deserved, he was booed loudly when he was verbally introduced. Simply amazing.

Cannot adequately describe the intensity of this main event in words...Do yourself a favor: go see a Strikeforce/Dream/UFC event live.

It is so different from TV. Live, you really get that sense that "Wow, these guys, ALL THESE GUYS are really fast and really tough and really skilled at ass-whiping; someone, anyone is getting hurt, badly." Mousasi vs. Sokoudjou was a perfect example of this: yea, you say Mousasi should just steamroll this guy but it just isn't so, especially when Theirry was winning the takedowns.

Thanks for letting me write all that, I learned alot from this show and it felt necessary to share in such detail.
